About the Artist

Joakim Eide investigates the contemporary state of identity, technology and politics - which solidifies as sculptures, printed matters and media works. He is currently researching the consequences for democracy and communities under surveillance capitalism.

That which is familiar, transforms into performative states of being, with their concerns and speculations.

Joakim got his BA in sociology and gender studies from the University in Bergen, and is currently studying for his BA in Fine Arts.

About Art and Activism

Joakim Eide has been an activist within the Norwegian Queer Movement for 10 years (2014-2024). He has been the illustrator for Trans Pride and Trans Awareness Week in Norway.

In 2020 he debuted as a performance protagonist i 71Bodies: In First Person: The House and The Dance with installing and creating a flower ritual centering trans people on stage.

In 2021 he launched the short film «Dear Isak» about a transmans personal journey before, during and after top surgery, as a protest to clinical and impersonal narratives about trans people.

In 2022 he held a scenographic one-night-only exhibition during the clubseries Spirals, titled Queering The Decks at Bergen Kunsthall.

In 2023 he curated a group exhibition titled “TRANS” located at Bergen Kjøtt during Transgender Awareness Week.
